Beinn Ime

richard's picture

Shot up to Arrochar Saturday for my first club day out for a while; my esrtwhile climbing partners having made various excused such as "I've got a cold." Or: "I think I might have a cold." Pa!
Anyway Simmo, Chris Miles (a potential member), Dave Foster, myself and Ella the Elevator (she goes uphill so bloody quick...) tramped across and up the broad ridge of Beinn Ime. At the top it became evident that some of the crags below were in excellent condition, so I trundled down the far ridge, enjoying beautiful crisp snow ice. Simeon and Ella came part of the way down to enjoy the conditions. Then I headed across the NE coire. The area where I think the documented climbing lies looked a bit slabby and very snowy, so I found a small buttress in the middle of the coire and worked a nice little gully with an ice pitch up that, and then topped out on another easier rocky crest. Pleasant stuff. The others had headed down the ridge and I chased after them. Lots of tea in the Village Inn, scones (triple sliced, the ONLY way) and a nice easy drive back. Weather perfect, regretted not taking the sun cream.

Magic day

Yes indeed. A magic day with cracking views, and not a breath of wind so some welcome doses of perfect silence. Good effort all round me reckons - hopefully we'll all get out on another one soon :-)
